About the Equipment

Automatic Flash-Butt welding system for high-capacity railway projects

FLASH 1200 is a state-of-the-art machine for the electric welding of rails using the Flash-Butt Welding (FBW) process, designed to create permanent joints within railway infrastructure construction and modernization projects.

With a maximum upsetting force of 1,200 kN, FLASH 1200 is intended for applications involving heavy rails, high-speed lines and projects with high requirements regarding the quality and repeatability of welds. The system integrates automatic process control, monitoring of the welding parameters and complete data recording for each working cycle.

The equipment can be installed on road-rail vehicles, railway platforms, in technical containers or in stationary installations dedicated to the production of long rail bars.

Main indicators

  • Maximum upsetting force: 1,200 kN
  • Maximum clamping force: 2,800 kN
  • Welding cycle duration: 2.5 - 3 minutes
  • Compatible rail profiles: 36–75 kg/m

High-performance welding for railway infrastructure

FLASH 1200 uses the Flash-Butt Welding process to create homogeneous and durable joints between rail segments.

During the welding cycle, the rail ends are precisely aligned and clamped, heated in a controlled manner by electric current and then pressed with a force of up to 1,200 kN. The automated process eliminates execution variations and ensures the repeatability of the parameters for each weld.

The result is jointless track, capable of withstanding the specific loads of intense railway traffic and high-speed lines.

Advantages of the FLASH 1200 equipment

Maximum power for complex applications
The upsetting force of 1,200 kN allows heavy profiles to be welded and joints used on heavily loaded railway lines to be made.

Full automation
The entire process is controlled electronically, from the alignment of the rails to the completion of the welding and deburring cycle.

High precision
The hydraulic systems and clamping mechanisms ensure the exact positioning of the rails throughout the process.

Integrated deburring
The excess material is removed immediately after welding, reducing the time needed for subsequent operations.

Parameter monitoring
All cycle parameters are recorded automatically, providing full traceability and the possibility of checking the quality of each weld.

Flexible integration
FLASH 1200 can be configured for mobile applications or stationary installations, depending on the project requirements.

Rugged construction for intensive operation

FLASH 1200 is designed for continuous use in site conditions and for industrial applications with high productivity.

The welding head uses a rigid structure and a high-capacity hydraulic system, capable of maintaining the alignment and pressure required throughout the welding cycle.

The rugged construction helps to achieve consistent results even under intensive operating conditions.

Control and traceability

The software system automatically manages the entire welding process and allows programs dedicated to different rail profiles to be saved.

For each cycle the following are recorded:

  • welding voltage;
  • electric current;
  • rail displacement;
  • upsetting force;
  • the evolution of the parameters throughout the cycle.

The data can be exported and used for quality control and documentation of the works carried out.
